The goal of all of our employment programs is to facilitate a wide range of essential services to supplement and support the employment needs of our community members.

 

 

Employment Support for Social Assistance Recipients
 

This program is offered in partnership with the Region of Peel, Ontario Works.

The purpose of the Employment Program is to assist participants in becoming job-ready and to support their shortest route to paid employment.

Social assistance recipients living within Mississauga.

Job Search Workshops for Newcomers
 

Employment program for newcomers provides job search assistance at no charge.

Each participant completing full workshop will receive a Certificate of Participation.

All services are provided free of charge, offered confidentially and professionally by accredited employment staff.

Also available Occasional Child Care facility

Employment Support Services


Employment Support Services provides one-on-one employment counselling. This service includes critique and advice on resumes, cover letters, references and other job search documents. Interview and network techniques may also be discussed. Employment Support Services assists job seekers individually in short micro-sessions arranged by appointment . 

Eligibility (any of the following):

  • EI Recipient
  • Reach Back Client
  • Refugee Claimant
  • Social Assistant Recipient
  • Canadian Citizen, and, or
  • Newcomer to Canada (over 3 years)

Community Access Program
 

The Dixie Bloor Neighbourhood Centre provides the Community Access Program (CAP) funded by Industry Canada with a goal of making Canada the most connected nation in the world.

The program provides community members with free public access to high speed Internet. The access helps individuals become better acquainted with the Internet, develop information technology skills, research information, or connect to government programs and services. In addition, the CAP site allows people to use Internet for job search purpose and opens a vast spectrum of employment opportunities.

The site is located at 3415 Dixie Road, Suite 402, in Mississauga. Business hours are from 8:30-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday, Tuesday until 6:00 p.m. To book your time, call (905) 206-0755.
