Mississauga, ON – On Tuesday, the team at Dixie Bloor Neighborhood Centre (DBNC) met with local elected officials to celebrate the $92,000 Resilient Communities Fund grant they received from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF).

“Expanding the reach of the Community Care Closet is a testament to the care and compassion of Ontarians,” said Kaleed Rasheed, MPP for Mississauga East-Cooksville. “This project will illuminate more homes with hope and foster connections and collaborations amongst our communities.”

The funds were used to hire a Fundraising expert to secure ongoing and sustainable funding to allow DBNC to scale up its Community Care Closet project to meet the increasing needs of the community. This funding will help us to continue to provide necessities such as food, clothing and personal care products to families and individuals in Peel and surrounding areas.

“The impact of this Ontario Trillium Foundation grant cannot be overstated,” said Priyanka Sheth, Executive Director of DBNC. “This grant has allowed the opportunity to expand and grow the Community Care Closet (CCC). The CCC is able to serve the community better by providing even more necessities to the community. We also want to congratulate the Ontario Trillium Foundation on 40 years of granting and building healthy and vibrant communities across the province.”

DBNC is committed to reducing poverty by providing safe and dignified access to basic necessities. We are able to better uphold that commitment with the help of the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s financial support.
