Being a volunteer can transform your life and that of others. 429 volunteers offered their time, effort and energy, and touched many lives of our community members last year. To honor these volunteers and celebrate their generosity, Dixie Bloor Neighbourhood Centre will hold the Volunteer Appreciation Ceremony on September 25th 2018 from 5.00 – 8.00 p.m. at the Maja Prentice Theatre located at 3650 Dixie Road, Mississauga [South West corner of Dixie and Burnhamthorpe, in the Burnhamthorpe Library complex].
Our volunteers come from diverse backgrounds with regards to age, ability, culture and orientation. One of our current volunteers stated, “Volunteering at DBNC taught me the skills and strategies to interact one-on-one with clients and find ways in which I can best help their needs “.
Hazel Henry, the Volunteer Program Manager says, “What I appreciate about my volunteers is their willingness to learn and challenge themselves. If someone is interested in volunteering at DBNC, I encourage them to fill out the Volunteer Application Form found on our website. We are so grateful to all our past and present volunteers and we publicly recognize them with a certificate at our Volunteer Appreciation Ceremony each year.
Networking and refreshments will kick off at 5.00 p.m., to be followed by the official ceremony commencing at 6.00 p.m. Several dignitaries and entertainment artists are scheduled to grace the event.
We hope you will explore a volunteer opportunity with us soon! Check us out at www.dixiebloor.ca!
