When you give to DBNC, you are giving to those who are the most vulnerable and marginalized in our community. We know that not everyone has enough to eat some days, and that is something we are actively fighting against. Our Community Care Closet provides free food to families daily and we need support so that we can continue our work. Your donation makes a world of difference for families who don’t know where their next meal is coming from. Your donation means that parents don’t have to make hard choices for their little ones.

DBNC’s annual Family Holiday Campaign aims to bring a little joy during the holidays for families who are newcomers and/or lower income. In 2022, 60 families were sponsored by our amazing supporters. Over 500 people had gifts donated to them by our caring donors. DBNC is proud that we can continue this amazing initiative.

This year, we hope to support even more families through our Community Care Closet and we need your help to make some magic happen!

Every family who is sponsored will also receive a food basket donated through the Community Care Closet. That means we top up EACH sponsored family’s gifts with fresh and healthy food.

Times are tough and we are all feeling the pinch these days. By giving to DBNC this holiday season, you can be sure the most needful in our community will get immediate access to nourishing food. Everyone has a seat at our table and on their plates, they have the one thing money can’t buy: hope. Because when generous supporters like you give back, that’s what you do for our community. Change lives through the Care Closet

The Community Care Closet provides access to food, personal care products, household supplies, and clothing for clients in need. Many of our clients are newcomers who are experiencing food insecurity. The need is the greatest it has ever been and we want to be a support system for those who don’t always have a safe space. The Community Care closet runs year-long and provides essential supports and services for newcomers, refugees, and families. Support us so that we can build resilient, stronger communities.

Sponsor a Family’s Holiday Wishlist

You can select a family (or families) from the list below to sponsor. Once you have confirmed the family or families you are sponsoring, you will receive an email confirmation that will include each family member’s detailed gift wishlist.

You have until 4:00 p.m. on November 24 to purchase and drop off the gifts at DBNC’s main offices (3650 Dixie Road, Suite 103, Mississauga, ON, L4Y 3V9.)

Please note that if you select a family to sponsor, you are pledging to cover ALL gifts for the family members.

Frequently Asked Questions

We carefully select current DBNC clients, who are in need of extra help and financial support. We run a rigorous selection process of families who are lower income, and sometimes in need of the most basic necessities. 60 families is our capacity today as we’re not able to cover all of the families we work with. Our ultimate wishlist is to be able to sponsor everyone in the future!

It depends on your capacity to cover the needs of each families, and your choices. Please keep in mind that when selecting a family, you pledge to cover ALL of their wishlist.

Is there another way to help without sponsoring a family?

Of course! You can donate gently used and/or new items to DBNC’s newly launched Community Care Closet. The Community Care Closet is a free resource provided for the community to access items they need, including: baby food, diapers, formula, canned goods, feminine hygiene products, kitchenware, and clothing. Families usually visit it to select items they need.
