On April 17th DBNC hosted the awards reception where we announced the winner of the Reel Substance Talk: Youth Video Contest! The evening was a celebration of our top 3 youth finalists who submitted videos on the topic of substance abuse.
The Reel Substance Talk Contest invited youth in our community to submit a short video that showcased their creative vision and ideas on the topic of substance abuse.
The finalists were: Maria Ali, Mahrijan Ozbek & Selena Gangaram who submitted the video “Don’t Underestimate Addiction.”. Crystal Zhu who submitted the video “Hey, Mom.”. The last submission was from Jael Opiyo with the video “THE MORE YOU KNOW!” DBNC awarded the winner with a $1,000 prize for their most thought-provoking and impressive submission.
Our judges deliberated but finally decided the winning video was, “Hey, Mom.” by @crys.zhu because the poignant submission met and exceeded all 4 criteria of success:
Relevance, Impact, Clarity, and Creativity. Not an easy task to do with only 90 seconds.
We hope you enjoy this video. You can view the video here:
